ADX Platform
Avocent® DSView™ Solution
Role: Lead UI/UX designer

ADX was Vertiv's next platform. New hardware and software built together, designed to manage everything in a data center's infrastructure from one place. KVM, serial, virtual machines, service processors, the whole stack. It shipped in 2021 and still runs today as Avocent DSView.

Device discovery
This is one of those features that sounds boring until you've had to manage 200 devices and couldn't leave the screen while it ran.

No updates, no background tasks, no leaving. Just wait. So we redesigned it. Kick off a broadcast and the system finds every connected device on the network automatically, closer to how AirDrop works than anything you'd expect from the enterprise world. But the bigger change was simpler than the technology: users could leave now.

We added a progress tracker, something the platform had never had, so discovery runs in the background while you get on with everything else. Pre-select what you want to add, exit whenever, come back when it's done. Not glamorous. But ask anyone who's managed 200 devices in a data center and they'll tell you it mattered.
While we're here
Here's more of the work. Take a look around.
